Lauren
M. Doucette was born on a warm summer day. It was at the tender age of
three that Lauren began her regimented dance training. Her first
schooling in this
art form was conducted at Dolly's Dance and Gymnastics. Here, Lauren focused
upon tap, ballet and baton. She then continued her studies at Colleen
Kelly Richards School Of Theatrical Dance, concentrating primarily on
jazz techniques.
Spending most of her young life in Lynn, Massachusetts, Lauren graduated
from St. Mary's High School in 1993, receiving their prestigious Upstage
Award. In this same year, Lauren also was awarded the Massachusetts
Drama Guild Acting Award. It was in 1999 that Lauren joined SEVEN 13, bringing her interpretations of their music to the
audience. One moment a blithe spirit coquettishly enticing, the next
moment, a haughty vixen on the prowl. Her movements to SEVEN 13's haunting refrains capture the audience and keeps them guessing
as to what she will do next. Lauren is an enigma impossible to explain
in any preconceived ideas.
Through SEVEN 13, Lauren is free to explore various
techniques and movements unencumbered. The music guides her soul and as
the stories unfold, the true magic is revealed. Her show changes from
night to night as she listens within to the vibrations of the musicians
and the audience. Interpretive dance relies upon the open mind, allowing
the muse's entrance into Lauren's soul.
